Dr. Jeff Hebert, CCRF-NBHRF Musculoskeletal Research Chair
Dr. Hebert is a Professor at UNB Fredericton in the Faculty of Kinesiology. He was previously Associate Dean (Research) in the School of Psychology and Exercise Science from Murdoch University in Australia.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Hebert earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (University of Denver) and PhD in Exercise Science (University of Utah). Before pursuing an academic career, he worked as an outpatient and hospital-based clinician in multidisciplinary environments including pain, sports medicine, and spine surgery.

Dr. Adesanya Tolulope Alugo, MD, MSc, DPCOAI, CIME, DCAPM, FIPP, CIPS, A SRA-PMUC
Dr. Alugo is an Assistant Professor Of Anaesthesia and a Chronic Pain Specialist at Horizon Health Network. We are very honored to have the opportunity to work with Dr.Alugo and use his expertise into improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Anil Adisesh, MB ChB, MSc, MD, FRCP, FFOM, FRCPC
Dr. Adisesh has been a Specialist Physician in Occupational Medicine since 1997. He is the Director of the Division of Occupational Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Head of the Division of Occupational Medicine at St Michael’s Hospital. Dr.Adisesh has Chaired the World Health Organisation (WHO) Global Working Group on Occupational Health for the Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD 11) and co-Chair to the International Labour Organisation Working Group on diagnostic and exposure criteria guidance on occupational diseases. He has been compiling information that will be of use to physicians, legislators and others concerned with occupational health. He is a member of the CSA Bioaerosols and respiratory protection working group.
The broad theme of Dr. Adisesh's research is "Long and healthy working lives" recognizing that not only are careers sometimes curtailed through injury and illness but that increasingly we will be working at an older age and we wish to be as healthy as possible throughout our lives.

Stephen Mundle, PT
Stephen Mundle, Physiotherapist at The New Brunswick Heart Centre’s cardiovascular health and wellness program, specifically with the Saint John Regional Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation program. He is one of our collaborators on the research project called Elucidating the effects of a prehabilitation program on spinal surgery candidates with cardiac comorbidities outcomes: A randomized, controlled trial. You probably are familiar with Stephen if you are one of our participants!

Additional Information: Dr. Matz specializes in Foot & Ankle and Orthopaedic Trauma surgery. He sees patients with all types of pathology affecting the foot and ankle, as well as trauma affecting the upper limbs, lower limbs, and pelvis. Dr. Matz is an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University and is regularly involved in teaching residents and medical students from both Dalhousie University, and Memorial University. He has a keen interest in research, particularly focusing on foot and ankle biomechanics, anatomy, and clinical outcome studies.
Dr. Lisa Best, PhD
Dr. Lisa Best is a Professor of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John. She has received numerous grants to support her research. She is currently one of our collaborators on a project looking at the perception of what life is like following a traumatic spinal cord injury.
Dr. Dean Tripp, B.A, M.A, Ph.D
Dr.Tripp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, Anesthesiology, and Urology at Queens University in Ontario. He completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University in 2001. His current lines of research concern pain and psychosocial experiences (self-regulation) across a variety of clinical populations:
1) Pain, relationship distress, disability, and suicide in men suffering from Chronic
Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS)
2) Pain, relationship distress, disability, suicide in women suffering from chronic
Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
3) Pain phenotyping and group therapy processes in Inflammatory Bowel Disease(IBD).

Dr. Amelia Barry, MD, FRCP
Medical School: Undergraduate Degree in Science from Dalhousie University, and a Medical Degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Residency: She completed her five-year Physical Medicine residency at the University of Ottawa.
Special Accomplishments: She is a Fellow of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with the Royal College of Physicians Canada. She also possesses a diploma in Electrodiagnostics (EMG) from the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists. She is a clinical educator with Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick.
Dr. M. Patricia Forgeron, MD, FRCPC
Medical School: Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1997.
Residency: She completed her residency specialty training at the University of Ottawa (2003), in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Current Location of Practice: Dr. Forgeron is presently practicing in the Province of New Brunswick in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Special Accomplishments: She is a Fellow with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Forgeron also has a BSc in Kinesiology and an MSc in Exercise Physiology. Dr. Forgeron is certified with the Canadian Society of Neurophysiologists in Electromyography. Presently, Dr. Forgeron provides in-patient and out-patient consultation services for Horizon Health Network, Saint John and Moncton zones. Dr. Forgeron has an interest in rehabilitation of central and peripheral nervous system disorders, lower extremity amputation and multi-trauma patients. In addition, Dr. Forgeron has an active out-patient practice in musculoskeletal medicine. Dr. Forgeron has an active medico-legal practice providing independent medical examinations for insurers; and equally for plaintiff and defense lawyers.
Shawn Kroetsch, BSc, MSc
Shawn is a Biology PhD student at the University of New Brunswick Saint John campus, where he is investigating the genetic diversity of gut bacteria inhabiting aquatic insects and crustaceans. Over the past several years, he has served as a volunteer research assistant with CESC and has participated in the collection and entry of data for multiple projects. Shawn is one of our collaborators on the research project Minimally invasive percutaneous C1–C2 transarticular screw fixation as a palliative management option in C2 metastases. Most recently, he also collaborated on the project Does National Occupational Classification affect return-to-work time, post-operative opioid use, chronic pain, and disability in elective thoracolumbar surgery patients? In the future, Shawn plans to pursue a scientific research career with interests including medicine, genetics, and data science.
